There will be NO classes today, so students can spend time with their families on Mother’s Day. Our First Communicants will return to their regular classes next Sunday as well! See you then!
We are forming a KICKBALL TEAM for students grades 7-12. It is a league with parishes around the county that play scheduled games on Wednesday evenings over the summer. If you think you can make some of the games we would love to have you! While it is always fun to win, the emphasis is on having fun, and everyone having the opportunity to participate. If your child would like to play, or you have questions, email Andy at [email protected] If you are interested in coaching, which will require no more than showing up to games and rotating kids in and out, please email Andy by May 22nd
We are looking into having a Seabreeze Day for our community! We are aiming for the last week in June. Price of a ticket should be under $20 for a Ride and Slide Pass. More information will be in the bulletin in the coming weeks!
THANK YOU to everyone who helped prepare our nine youngsters for their First Holy Communion. Our gratitude also goes to John and Mary Jo Maurer who provided their expert photographic services for this special occasion.
Please check out our website at www.skt-lmc.org to see this and all previous notices as well as upcoming events.
HELPING OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
Each Sunday throughout the year, SKT-LMC collects donations of non-perishable food items for local food cupboards, for the purpose of alleviating hunger caused by poverty in our area. The need is very real, even though we may not “see” it close-up. Donations may be placed in the green baskets in each of the church vestibules.
WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS to help maintain our facilities, especially in the area of church and parish center cleaning. We need YOU! Please email [email protected] or call 467-8747. Enough volunteers will enable us to have rotating teams.
WHEN YOU COME TO CHURCH, please turn OFF all cell phones, hand-held electronic devices, pagers, watch alarms, etc. ALSO, remember to dress appropriately (neatly and modestly). Unfortunately, in many churches today, people tend to “dress down” for Mass. How can this be??? RESPECT and REVERENCE toward God and neighbor (i.e. charity) should determine how we present ourselves in the House of God. Thank you, in advance, for your courtesy and cooperation.
THERE ARE (AT LEAST) THREE REASONS to maintain a prayerful, quiet atmosphere in the church proper before and after services: (1) RESPECT for the House of God, (2) REVERENCE for the Blessed Sacrament, and (3) REGARD for those who want to pray in peace. The guiding principle should be DEVOTION NOT COMMOTION. Please carry on your friendly conversations in the church vestibules (with inside doors closed), outside, or at the coffee hours. Reverence and friendliness can and should co-exist—in their proper settings!!
PRAYING FOR THE SICK AND INFIRM
Judy Burns has volunteered to coordinate the SKT-LMC bulletin listing of sick and infirm members, relatives, and friends. The list will be there so that we might pray for them. Please note that NO health information will be printed in this bulletin. Judy will coordinate the names: long-term? Short-term? When to take off list? etc. To put names on the list, contact Judy Burns at (cell) 585-738-5156 OR (e-mail) burnsie320 @yahoo.com.
Florian & Veronica Czerniak
May the Divine Physician of our souls and bodies help and heal them, through His Divine Mercy.
THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION, in the traditional Rite (Extraordinary Form), was received yesterday, May 7, by two of our Latin Mass servers: Hector Vargas and Antonio Vargas. The Sacrament took place at St. Michael’s Church (in the care of the Priestly Fraternity of St.Peter) in Scranton, PA, and was conferred by Bishop Timlin (retired bishop of the Diocese of Scranton). Hector’s sponsor was Peter LaPietra and Antonio’s sponsor was Philip LaPietra. We congratulate Hector and Antonio, as we keep them in our prayers. May the Holy Spirit of God bestow upon them His manifold, heavenly gifts, so that they will always be strong and perfect Christians, true soldiers of Christ.
NEXT SUNDAY ON THE GLORIOUS SUNDAY OF PENTECOST, May 15, both our Masses will be sung:
ENGLISH CHOIR MASS at 9AM
LATIN HIGH MASS at 11:15 AM
Also, at the 9’o’clock, Rory Zimmer will be received into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. We keep this fine man in our prayers as we approach the “Pentecost” of his life.
SECOND COLLECTION NEXT SUNDAY, May 15, taken up for the Diocesan Missions (Propagation of the Faith). Checks should be written to St. Kateri Parish because the parish handles these funds for us and transfers them to the Diocesan office for distribution.
NO COFFEE HOURS TODAY. Please visit or phone your mother. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
