Sacred Music Ministry at St. Thomas Church
At St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, we are blessed with a vibrant music ministry that enriches both our Latin Mass and English Mass celebrations. Our community is home to a volunteer schola, a polyphonic choir, and a gifted soprano cantor, offering the beauty of sacred music to glorify God and lift the hearts of the faithful.
Music at the Latin Mass
-
Low Latin Mass – These are quiet and contemplative, with minimal singing. The choir provides sacred hymns during the Processional, Offertory, Communion, and Recessional, allowing for prayerful reflection.
-
High Latin Mass – At High Mass, the priest chants much of the liturgy, while the schola and choir sing the traditional responses such as the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei. Additional hymns accompany the Processional, Offertory, Communion, and Recessional, creating a rich and full musical experience.
Special Feast Day Traditions
During great feasts such as Christmas and Easter, our choir expands its role with a cherished tradition: bell ringing. This ancient form of worship brings joyful sound and reverence to our liturgies. Each Advent season, we also present Christmas Lessons and Carols, sharing the beauty of sacred song with the wider community.
